About Zapata Legal Group

Zapata Legal Group, APC is a Los Angeles workers' compensation law firm built with a single focus: representing injured workers. We do not work for companies. We do not represent insurance carriers. We are not intermediaries navigating between you and the system — we are on your side, period.

Pelea por usted. — Fighting for you.

That is not a slogan. It is the reason this firm exists.

Why We Only Represent Workers

California's workers' compensation system was designed to protect employees. In practice, it can feel like the opposite. Insurance carriers field legal teams, company doctors, and claims adjusters whose job is to reduce what gets paid out to you. The process can be slow, confusing, and exhausting — especially when you are injured, unable to work, and the checks are not coming.

We made a deliberate decision: we would do one thing, and do it well. We represent the worker.

We do not take defense cases. We do not advise employers. There are no conflicts of interest. When you retain Zapata Legal Group, you know our only loyalty is to you.

Who We Serve

We represent injured workers throughout California — from San Diego to the Bay Area, from the Central Valley to Northern California. Our clients include:

  • Construction workers
  • Warehouse and logistics employees
  • Janitorial and maintenance staff
  • Agricultural and packing workers
  • Restaurant and hospitality employees
  • Drivers, delivery workers, and transportation workers
  • Manufacturing and industrial employees

It does not matter whether you work full-time, part-time, or as a contractor. It does not matter whether your employer is a large corporation or a small business. And it does not matter what your immigration status is — California workers' compensation law protects every worker who is employed in this state.

How We Work

From the moment you contact us, we start building your case. Our process:

  1. Free consultation — we listen to your situation and explain your rights at no cost
  2. Claim evaluation — we review reports, medical records, and any communications from the insurance carrier
  3. Active representation — we handle all communication with the insurer, coordinate your authorized medical treatment, and stand with you at every Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) hearing
  4. Negotiation and resolution — we pursue the most complete compensation possible: medical care, temporary and permanent disability benefits, and where applicable, a global settlement

Everything on a contingency fee basis. You pay nothing unless we win.

Our Bilingual Commitment

California is a state built on the labor of millions of people whose primary language is Spanish. For too many of them, a language barrier has become a barrier to justice.

Zapata Legal Group was founded with a clear mission: no worker should lose their rights simply because the system does not speak their language.

We serve clients primarily in Spanish, and also in English. Our communications, explanatory materials, and conversations with you happen in the language you understand best. That is not an add-on service — it is the foundation of how we operate.

Responsible Attorney

The responsible attorney at Zapata Legal Group is Kane Liberman, Esq., admitted to the California State Bar under license number 342405. His practice is 100% focused on workers' compensation from the applicant's side — meaning he always works for the injured worker, never for the insurer or employer.

FAQs

No. We focus exclusively on California workers' compensation law, on the applicant's side. That specialization means we know the system deeply and can defend you more effectively.

Do you work with undocumented workers?

Yes. California workers' compensation law protects every worker in the state, regardless of immigration status. If you worked in California and were injured on the job, you have the right to file a claim.

How long do I have to file my claim?

In most cases, you have one year from the date of the accident — or from the date you knew or should have known the injury was work-related. There are important exceptions. Contact an attorney as soon as possible, because missing a deadline can mean losing your rights entirely.
